Samsung has unveiled its fastest solid state drives to date - the 970 Pro and 970 Evo.
With visualisation technology evolving faster than ever, Samsung is at the cutting edge of storage with these two brand new additions to their industry-leading SSD range.
The new series boasts impressive read and write speeds, with the 970 Pro clocking in at 3500MB/s read and 2700MB/s write, and the 970 Evo offering 3500MB/s and 2500MB/s.
Each SSD uses an M.2 with PCIe 3.0 x4 connection and V-NAND featuring 64 layers of memory cells. These drives will also use a new controller from Phoenix. According to Samsung, the Phoenix controller combined with the V-NAND gives the 970 range a 30% boost in write speed over previous models.
This remarkable upgrade is down to Samsung’s intelligent TurboWrite, which gives a 78GB buffer, speeding up the write process, which makes them ideal for post-production pipelines where users will be able to playback raw 4K footage.
The 970 Pro and 970 Evo SSDs are due for release in early May. To learn more about how storage can benefit your studio get in contact with us using the form below.
